Baghdad: The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced today that it has sent the draft law for the Popular Mobilization Commission to the Presidency of the Council of Representatives, in preparation for its inclusion in the agenda of upcoming sessions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, committee member, MP Yasser Iskandar Watout, stated that the head of the Security and Defense Committee has officially submitted the draft law to the Parliament Presidency. This submission is intended to regulate the work of the Popular Mobilization Commission based on clear legal foundations.

Watout added that the responsibility now lies with the Parliament Presidency to include the law in the agendas of the upcoming sessions for discussion and voting.

He further explained that there are currently no political disputes over important legislation, and the coming period will witness significant achievements by the Council of Representatives in passing laws that serve broad segments of Iraqi society.
