Maysan: The Maysan Police Command announced the arrest of three suspects linked to the murder of a citizen motivated by tribal revenge in one of the governorate’s areas.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command stated that it received a report of a citizen being shot by unknown gunmen. A security force promptly moved to the scene, establishing a security cordon around the site and beginning the process of gathering and cross-checking information to identify the suspects.

The statement further detailed that the security force obtained judicial approvals and pursued the suspects, successfully arresting them less than three hours after the crime occurred. The operation was described as qualitative, relying on intelligence efforts and close monitoring.

The Command clarified that the crime’s motives were linked to a tribal vendetta from more than three years ago in the Fish Lakes area, which had previously resulted in the deaths of three people. The suspects have been referred to the relevant police station, with legal action being taken against them in accordance with the provisions of Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code, which addresses premeditated murder.
