Baghdad: Iraq strongly condemned the Israeli bombing of the Syrian capital, Damascus, affirming its firm position rejecting any attacks that violate the sovereignty of states. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Iraq’s strong condemnation of the bombing that targeted Damascus, carried out by the Israeli entity, and affirmed its complete rejection of endangering the lives of Syrian civilians and exacerbating their humanitarian suffering.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry reiterated Iraq’s position of rejecting attacks that violate state sovereignty. It warned of the dangers posed by the Israeli entity’s use of pretexts or justifications to achieve expansionist goals that could undermine regional stability. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of all components of the Syrian people, preserving their dignity, and ensuring their safety amid the challenging humanitarian conditions in Syria.

Today, Israeli warplanes launched a series of raids on Damascus, targeting key locations including the Syrian General Staff building in Umayyad Square and the vicinity of the Presidential Palace on Mount Qasioun. The Syrian Ministry of Health announced that the number of casualties from these raids had risen to 13. The attacks by Israeli aircraft coincided with the Syrian Ministry of Interior’s announcement of a ceasefire by all parties in As-Suwayda Governorate.
