Baghdad: The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, offered his condolences to the Republic of Iraq on Thursday following the tragic fire that broke out in a shopping mall in the city of Kut, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official Spokesman for the Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdi, stated that "Aboul Gheit expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to those injured in this painful tragedy."

The Secretary-General affirmed "the Arab League's full solidarity with the Republic of Iraq in this ordeal."
