Baghdad: OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al-Ghais has officially received an invitation to participate in the Baghdad International Energy Forum set for September 6, 2025. This event is poised to be a significant occasion on the energy industry calendar for the region. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Ghais confirmed his readiness to attend and actively engage in the forum. The event will be held under the auspices of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and will feature collaboration with the Ministry of Oil, Ghadan Risk Management Foundation, and the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue. Strategically, the forum will receive support from the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO). The organizing committee is in the process of dispatching invitations to energy and oil ministers from 12 countries. Additionally, senior executives from international oil companies and a group of experts and researchers in energy affairs are expected to participate. The discussions at the forum will cover a range of strat egic topics. Key issues include environmental sustainability, technological innovation, global market transformations, and regional energy security challenges. The sessions will also explore the future prospects of renewable energy and natural gas in the region.
