Head of Najaf Provincial Council Receives Spanish Ambassador to Discuss Prospects for Cooperation


Najaf: The Head of the Najaf Provincial Council, Hussein Al-Eisawi, received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Iraq, Alicia Rico P©rez, and her accompanying delegation at his office today, in the presence of several council members.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Eisawi welcomed the Spanish ambassador and praised the deep historical ties between the Iraqi and Spanish peoples. He highlighted the historical, religious, and political significance of Najaf, noting that the province is home to more than 450 archaeological sites, making it a prominent global tourist destination.



Al-Eisawi stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with Spain, particularly in the field of investment. He pointed to the potential for collaboration in the railway sector, where Spain enjoys an excellent international reputation.



For her part, Ambassador P©rez expressed her delight at visiting Najaf and appreciated the warm welcome she received. She affirmed her country’s strong interest in investing in several key sectors, especially tourism and transportation, among others.
