Cairo: Veteran artist Lotfi Labib passed away this morning at the age of 77, following a health crisis that led to his transfer to intensive care two days ago. Artist Mounir Makram, the representative of the Actors Syndicate, mourned the late Lotfi Labib, saying, “The most precious of people has departed… the artist Lotfi Labib.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mohamed El-Deeb, Lotfi Labib’s business manager, announced the deterioration of his condition in the past few hours. He said in exclusive statements to Al-Masry Al-Youm, “Labib’s health condition is very critical, especially since the health crisis he suffered was the result of a severe throat hemorrhage due to pneumonia.”

Lotfi Labib returned to the hospital after being discharged on the morning of July 17, following a slight improvement in his health. Doctors were reassured about his condition and allowed him to leave the hospital, but he was to undergo a period of convalescence.

Labib appeared at his home alongside Father Boutros Daniel, head of the Catholic Center for Cinema, and artist Hamza El-Eili. He appeared to be in good health. However, his condition deteriorated again, and he suffered from pneumonia, a complication of throat cancer. He lost consciousness in the past few hours.
