Iraq Commends Nations Recognizing State of Palestine

Baghdad: Iraq welcomed the announcement by a number of friendly countries to recognize the State of Palestine. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation for the recognition by several nations, including France, Canada, Malta, and the United Kingdom. Portugal also announced its intention to begin official procedures for recognition during the United Nations General Assembly next September.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry emphasized that these steps are significant in supporting the international process aimed at achieving justice for the Palestinian people. The recognition is seen as paving the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.
