Moscow: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani extended his condolences to the Barzani families on the 42nd anniversary of the Anfal campaigns, which he described as ‘brutal’ and ‘criminal.’ In a post on the X platform, Al-Sudani stated that the campaigns targeted innocent elderly, children, women, and young people from Barzani families, resulting in the disappearance of more than 8,000 individuals, one of the most horrific crimes committed by the former dictatorial regime.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani emphasized the gravity of the Anfal campaigns, highlighting the massive loss and trauma experienced by the Barzani families. He expressed his deepest sympathies and unwavering support to the victims’ families, acknowledging the immeasurable contributions of their sacrifices to the eventual fall of the oppressive regime.

Al-Sudani further articulated his commitment to remembering the tragedy and ensuring that the sacrifices of the Barzani families, alongside all Iraqis, are honored. He noted that their enduring spirit and resilience laid the groundwork for a new era in Iraq characterized by freedom, justice, and democracy.
