Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed that reconstruction, development, and building have been at the core of the government’s priorities since its first day in office. He emphasized the continuation of work across various sectors to improve public services and citizens’ living conditions.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office said that Al-Sudani held three extensive meetings on Saturday with a group of tribal sheikhs and dignitaries from Tikrit, Al-Awja, Al-Dour, and several districts and sub-districts in Salah al-Din. The meetings took place at the guesthouse of MP Haitham Al-Zahwan, in the presence of Provincial Council member Zuhair Mohammed Al-Zahwan, Sheikh Hatim Abdul Kareem Al-Nada, and Sheikh Yasser Shakir Mahal.
These meetings were part of Al-Sudani’s visit to the province, which included launching and inspecting several service projects. Discussions covered the social, economic, and service-related conditions in the province in light of the progress made in various sectors, in line with the government’s commitments under its core program priorities.
Al-Sudani stated that the government had laid solid foundations to build a state capable of utilizing its resources and potential to secure a dignified life for its people. He pointed to the ‘Development Road’ project as one of the government’s leading strategic initiatives, adding: ‘Our movement continues from Basra to Mosul-this is a national, legitimate, and legal goal that reflects our commitment to equal treatment for all Iraqis.’
He described Salah al-Din as a promising province with great potential in the oil, agricultural, and commercial sectors due to its strategic location. He also announced new infrastructure projects in the Al-Dour district and visits to Samarra to launch the largest infrastructure project there, in addition to upcoming visits to Balad and Dujail districts.
Al-Sudani revealed plans to announce a bridge project in Tikrit and a complementary water project linked to the Baiji water system, which was launched earlier in the day. He directed relevant ministries to begin implementation procedures for these initiatives.
He also noted that Salah al-Din is one of Iraq’s leading agricultural provinces and that the third installment of payments for farmers will be released this week. Al-Sudani underscored the importance of economic reform across all sectors, stressing the need to move away from dependence on oil as the sole revenue source.
On regional issues, the Prime Minister described the situation in Gaza as a genocide not only carried out through weapons and warfare but also through starvation, amid the absence of a firm stance from the international community. He reaffirmed Iraq’s principled position in rejecting aggression, while highlighting the government’s humanitarian efforts and its commitment to safeguarding the country’s higher interests.
Al-Sudani concluded by reiterating the government’s dedication to holding elections on schedule, not as a result of external pressure or exceptional circumstances, but as part of the principle of peaceful power transfer. He stressed that the government is working to ensure a secure and stable environment for both voters and candidates.
