New york: The rotating President of the UN Security Council, Eloy Alvaro de Alba, announced that there are no indications so far regarding the activation of the “trigger mechanism” against Iran.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nations, De Alba, explained while chairing the monthly session of the Security Council that: “There have been no official signals from the European Troika (Britain, France, and Germany) regarding their intention to activate this mechanism.”

He indicated that the issue remains open for discussion, especially regarding the level of Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and will be discussed in upcoming Security Council meetings.

De Alba pointed to the complexities of the Iranian nuclear issue, saying: “There is no doubt that these issues have witnessed successive developments, and the bombing of Iranian facilities has prompted Tehran to adopt new political positions, making this issue a priority for discussion in the Security Council.”
