Basra: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen al-Mandalawi emphasized the crucial role of religious institutions in combating extremism and addressing foreign influences while promoting the values of coexistence and brotherhood.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Mandalawi’s media office released a statement detailing his meeting with a delegation from the Fatwa House in Basra Governorate, led by Sheikh Nasser al-Darwish, and attended by Representative Alaa al-Haidari. The meeting focused on discussing the conditions, affairs, and needs of the religious institution, as well as the challenges and obstacles they face.

During the discussions, al-Mandalawi commended the Fatwa House’s efforts in promoting peace and unity within Basra Governorate. He underscored the importance of religious institutions in rejecting extremism and radicalism, as well as countering deviations and influences that are foreign to the values of Iraqi society.

Al-Mandalawi further highlighted the regional challenges and dangers that necessitate a collective effort to reinforce national principles and enhance societal cohesion and unity.
