Criminal Complaint and Interrogation Request Filed Against Minister of Finance

Baghdad: A number of MPs have announced the initiation of procedures to question the Minister of Finance due to the delay in disbursing pensioners’ salaries and the failure to send the budget schedules until now.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Representative Hadi Al-Salami stated in a joint press conference that the Ministry of Finance is responsible for not disbursing pensioners’ salaries. In response, legal measures have been taken to file a criminal complaint against the Ministry of Finance and any individuals proven to be negligent, based on Article 329 of the Constitution.

Member of the Legal Committee, Representative Raed Al-Maliki, confirmed that the government and the Ministry of Finance have committed a major violation by not sending the budget schedules. He highlighted that the delay and refusal to send the budget tables constitute a constitutional and legal violation, as identified by the Public Prosecution Office. Consequently, formal interrogation proceedings have been initiated against the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance for this issue.

Al-Maliki further stated that the signature collection process has been completed, and the official request, supported by documents including the Public Prosecution Office’s response, has been submitted to the Parliament Presidency. This is pending its referral to the Interrogations Committee to complete the necessary requirements.
