Kirkuk: Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani announced the continuation of discussions with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to resume oil exports. During his visit to the North Oil Company in Kirkuk, Abdul Ghani expressed optimism for the rehabilitation and development of all North Gas Company facilities, aiming to increase their production capacity. He emphasized that this effort will ensure continuous operations and full exploitation of gas produced from the oil fields.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abdul Ghani also discussed a contract with British Petroleum (BP) focused on developing Kirkuk’s four oil fields. He stated that the current oil production in the governorate exceeds 400,000 barrels per day, with plans to boost production to 600,000 barrels daily through the BP contract. This increase in production is expected to enhance the capabilities of the North Gas Company to manage the additional gas output.

The Oil Minister highlighted ongoing negotiations with the Kurdistan Region, maintaining communication with the Ministry of Natural Resources to facilitate oil exports through SOMO. He noted that the Kurdistan Region’s oil fields are currently producing 130,000 barrels per day, with 50,000 barrels allocated for domestic use.

Abdul Ghani also mentioned an agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government to export the remaining 80,000 barrels per day through the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
