Moscow: President Vladimir Putin received US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff, as announced by the Kremlin.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian President, was present during the meeting. This marks Witkoff’s fifth visit to Russia this year, having arrived in Moscow on Wednesday morning.

US President Donald Trump had previously issued a 50-day ultimatum to Russia, demanding that it sign a peace agreement with Kyiv or face increased sanctions. Trump later announced a reduction of this period to 10-12 days. He also threatened to impose 100% tariffs on imports from Russia and secondary tariffs on countries that purchase its oil, gas, and other energy sources, while admitting that “sanctions may be ineffective” in deterring Russia.
