Baghdad: Minister of Interior, Head of the Supreme Security Committee for Mass Pilgrimages, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, directed on Wednesday to avoid any road closures or route diversions during the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Shammari chaired an extensive meeting attended by the Commander of Karbala Operations, the Karbala Police Chief, several security leaders, and intelligence officials to review the implementation of the security plans designed for the pilgrimage.

During the meeting, Al-Shammari emphasized the importance of “doubling efforts and working with a strong sense of responsibility throughout the pilgrimage days,” stressing the need to “separate pedestrian pilgrims from vehicular traffic and to avoid any roadblocks or diversions that may hinder the flow of pilgrims.”

The minister confirmed that “all logistical and organizational requirements for the pilgrimage plan have been secured,” noting that this year’s pilgrimage should
stand out in terms of organization and smooth entry and exit of pilgrims to and from the city of the Master of Martyrs, while maintaining thorough security inspections to ensure the safety of both the city and its visitors.
