Baghdad: Iran has executed a man convicted of spying for Israel and providing it with information about a nuclear scientist assassinated by the Jewish state during the June war between the two countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the judiciary’s Mizan Online website reported that “Roozbeh Wadi was executed after the completion of judicial procedures and the confirmation of the sentence issued against him by the Supreme Court.”

It indicated that he was convicted of leaking information “about a nuclear scientist assassinated during the recent Zionist aggression,” referring to the 12-day war between Iran and Israel.

At dawn on June 13, 2025, the Israeli government announced, in an official statement, that it had carried out a “preemptive strike” codenamed “Rising Lion,” targeting vital sites such as nuclear sites, missile units, and drones in Natanz, Fordo, Khandab, and Parchin.

At the same time, the Israeli military and Mossad carried out assassinations of senior military commanders and promi
nent figures in the Iranian nuclear program.

During the 12-day war between Tehran and Tel Aviv, at least 610 Iranian casualties occurred. According to the Israeli military, at least 480 strategic targets inside Iran were targeted during these surprise operations.

In response, the Iranian armed forces announced the launch of “Operation True Promise 3,” launching more than 500 missiles at Israel in more than 21 waves of attacks.

The Iranian missile attacks killed 28 Israelis and wounded at least 265 others.

Following the Iranian “Bashaer Al-Fatah” operation against the US Central Command (CENTCOM) at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, and in response to “Operation Midnight Hammer,” the United States began mediation efforts between Iran and Israel. Trump announced via a post on the “Truth Social” platform that a truce had been reached between the two sides.
