Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein engaged in discussions with Cui Wei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Iraq, regarding the preparations for the upcoming second Arab-Chinese summit.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry revealed that Fuad Hussein received Ambassador Cui Wei to discuss the ongoing preparations for the summit, which is slated to take place in Beijing next year. The Chinese Foreign Ministry conveyed a message emphasizing the importance of the summit and the need for collaborative efforts.

During the meeting, both parties agreed to establish a joint coordination mechanism between Iraq and China. This mechanism aims to oversee the preparations for the summit and determine the dates for its meetings in the near future. The discussion also covered bilateral relations between Iraq and China, with an eye on an anticipated visit by a high-level Chinese delegation to Baghdad. This visit is intended to further develop and strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

The statement highlighted that Minister Fuad Hussein underscored the significance of holding the summit in Beijing. He expressed Iraq’s eagerness to play an active role in the summit preparations and coordinate positions among Arab countries and the Arab League, contributing to the summit’s goals and ensuring its success.

Ambassador Cui, on his part, acknowledged Iraq’s pivotal role in the summit preparations, particularly given its current presidency of the Arab Summit. He emphasized the necessity of coordination and cooperation with Iraq to ensure the event’s success.
