Beirut: The Lebanese government approved the goals of the US paper on Thursday, despite the withdrawal of Hezbollah and Amal ministers. The Lebanese Minister of Information announced the cabinet’s approval following a session, emphasizing the agreement on the goals outlined in the US envoy’s paper.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Lebanese Minister of Information stated that the cabinet has backed the US paper’s objectives, highlighting the government’s commitment to the state’s monopoly on arms, the deployment of the army in the south, and the implementation of all provisions of the paper. However, these commitments are contingent upon each state’s fulfillment of its respective obligations.
Lebanese Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar explained that the withdrawal of Hezbollah and Amal ministers was a protest against the prime minister’s determination to endorse the US paper.
