Baghdad: Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed al-Bashir is set to visit Baghdad tomorrow, Tuesday, following an official invitation extended by Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani. The visit aims to forge agreements on the transportation of oil from Iraq through Syrian territory to the Mediterranean via the Syrian port of Baniyas.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the visit will also include discussions between al-Bashir and Iraq’s Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab. They plan to address the critical issue of water scarcity and negotiate strategies to manage the reduced water flow in the Euphrates River, which has decreased significantly from 500 to 300 cubic meters per second.
