Baghdad: The Ministry of Electricity announced a sudden and accidental loss of more than 6,000 megawatts in the network, leading to an acceleration in the frequency of generating units and causing their shutdown and a complete system shutdown.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry confirmed that intensive work is underway in control centers to gradually restore the disconnected units and transmission lines to operation over the coming hours.
