Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that the ongoing situation in Gaza is a critical test for humanity’s conscience and called for immediate global action.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan articulated his concerns in an article on Al Jazeera English, urging the world not to view the Gaza Strip merely as a localized conflict but as a worsening humanitarian catastrophe affecting humanity as a whole. He highlighted the dire consequences of the Israeli bombings, which have devastated infrastructure and basic services, leaving many without shelter, food, or healthcare.

Erdogan expressed grave concern over the humanitarian collapse in Gaza, citing over 61,000 Palestinian casualties, predominantly women and children, as evidence of a systematic policy he describes as genocide. He criticized the international community’s passive stance, particularly the West’s inconsistent response to crises, which he believes undermines the credibility of international principles.

Despite the challenges, Erdogan noted that Turkey has maintained a consistent approach to alleviating the crisis. Turkish organizations, with support from neighboring countries, are actively providing essential supplies and medical aid. Turkey is also facilitating the evacuation and treatment of the wounded.

On the diplomatic front, Erdogan stressed Turkey’s ongoing efforts for a ceasefire and mediation between Palestinian factions. He emphasized the importance of transforming temporary truces into lasting peace, warning that immediate action is necessary.

Erdogan also recognized Qatar’s role in aiding humanitarian efforts and highlighted the broader regional implications of the Gaza conflict, warning of potential instability and increased extremism.

The Turkish President called for an unconditional ceasefire and the creation of humanitarian corridors, stressing the need for accountability through international legal channels. He advocated for a two-state solution as the pathway to lasting peace.
