Human Rights Committee Urges Investigation into Death of Basra Psychiatrist Dr. Ban

Basra: The Parliamentary Human Rights Committee expressed deep concern over the death of Dr. Ban, a prominent psychiatrist in Basra, calling for an urgent and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the committee emphasized the need to protect medical personnel and provide them with psychological and moral support, urging the Ministry of Health and the Medical Association to review working conditions in healthcare institutions.

The committee also stressed the importance of addressing the psychological and social pressures on Iraqi women, highlighting the urgent need to establish a ministry dedicated to women, family, and children’s affairs, similar to countries that have successfully mitigated such challenges.

The statement concluded by offering condolences to the late doctor’s family and colleagues, while awaiting the results of the investigation, saying: “May God have mercy on Dr. Ban and reward her humanitarian work.”
