Baghdad: The Judicial Authority of the Electoral Commission has issued a decision to reject the appeal submitted by Jamal al-Karbouli, solidifying his exclusion from participating in the upcoming 2025 Iraqi Council of Representatives elections. This decision is based on a previous conviction related to a breach of trust.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Authority also ruled to exclude current MP Sajjad Salem and former MP Dhafer al-Ani from running in the elections. Dhafer al-Ani had previously denied the possibility of being subject to accountability and justice procedures or being excluded from the elections. The decision also extends to other candidates deemed ineligible to participate in the upcoming electoral process.
