Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani stressed the importance of US companies entering the Iraqi market during his reception of the Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Baghdad, Ambassador Stephen Fagin.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Parliament Speaker’s media office stated that “Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani received Ambassador Stephen Fagin, Charg© d’Affaires of the United States Mission in Iraq, in his official office.” During their meeting, they discussed the mechanism for reducing the number of troops at Ain al-Assad base and transforming the work into a limited bilateral framework within the Kurdistan Region. This move is intended to align with the ground realities, enhance national sovereignty, and reflect the security stability achieved in Iraq.
Al-Mashhadani emphasized that sustainable security stability cannot be achieved without economic prosperity. He highlighted the importance of American companies entering the Iraqi market to support the private sector and provide extensive job opportunities for the national workforce.
The statement added that both sides emphasized the strength of the relationship between Iraq and the United States. They expressed their keenness to develop this relationship to serve common interests and enhance cooperation in political, economic, and security fields.
