Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji engaged in discussions with U.S. Charg© d'Affaires in Baghdad, Steven Fagin, focusing on regional developments and the issue of Al-Hol camp during a meeting marking the conclusion of Fagin's diplomatic mission in Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the National Security Commission highlighted that both parties emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means to protect the shared interests of Iraq, the region, and the global community, while also aiming to end conflicts and foster peace.

The discussions included the situation at the Al-Hol camp in Syria and the forthcoming conference in New York scheduled for next September. This conference aims to encourage countries to repatriate their citizens, facilitating the eventual closure of the camp. Both sides reviewed Iraq's successful efforts in rehabilitating its citizens who have returned from the camp and reintegrating them into society.

Al-Araji reiterated the Iraqi government's commitment to strengthening relations with all members of the International Coalition through collaborative efforts in counterterrorism, intelligence-sharing, and the exchange of expertise.

In response, Fagin expressed the United States' support for Iraq's initiatives to resolve the Al-Hol issue, emphasizing that Washington will actively encourage nations to repatriate their citizens during the upcoming conference in New York.
