Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the understandings reached during the Alaska Summit pave the way for peace in Ukraine.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Putin, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, stated that the agreements made at the Alaska Summit could lead to peace in Ukraine. He emphasized that addressing the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis is essential for a long-term resolution.

Putin explained that the crisis in Ukraine did not emerge from an “attack,” but resulted from a governmental coup. He further mentioned that Western attempts to incorporate Ukraine into NATO are contributing factors to the crisis.

It is noteworthy that on August 15, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin convened at a US military base in Alaska to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine and the pursuit of its resolution. Both leaders described the meeting as “constructive and fruitful,” though no clear agreements were reached.
