Maysan: The Maysan Criminal Court issued a life sentence against two convicts convicted of drug trafficking.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement: “The convicts were found in their possession of 2.475 kilograms of opium and methylamphetamine, with the intent to trade and sell them among users.”

It added: “The sentence was issued against them in accordance with the provisions of Article 28/First of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017, in light of Articles 47, 48, and 49 of the Penal Code.”
