Basra: The Islamic Dawa Party has permanently expelled three of its members for running in upcoming elections outside the State of Law coalition. This decision marks a significant move by the party to maintain its internal regulations and political alignment.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, an official document from the party identified the expelled members as Abbas Hiyal, Abbas Al-Hajjaj, and Fakher Hassan Matar. The document highlighted that the members were previously warned about their independent candidacy but chose not to comply, leading to their expulsion. The decision was grounded in Article 17 (Paragraph 7) and Article 11 of Chapter One, Part Two of the party’s internal regulations.

Notably, Abbas Hiyal is the Director General of the Iron and Steel Company in Basra, adding a layer of complexity to the political dynamics within the region.
