Karbala: The legal custodian of al-Abbasi Holy Shrine, Sayyid Ahmed al-Safi, has urged the leaders of the al-Kafeel Museum of Treasures and Manuscripts to seek cooperative relationships with international museums and universities. His aim is to advance archaeological and museum studies through shared expertise and resources.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, this initiative was announced during al-Safi’s meeting with Nafi’ al-Mousawi, the head of the museum department, and his delegation. The meeting included a presentation on the museum’s ongoing projects and its efforts to preserve artifacts from the al-Kadhimiya and al-‘Askari holy shrines. Such efforts are part of a broader strategy to leverage the museum’s staff expertise in safeguarding the heritage of these holy sites, whose museums are yet to be opened to the public.
Al-Safi also instructed the development of an atlas of world museums, featuring al-Kafeel Museum, designed with a distinctive layout in multiple languages. This atlas is intended to serve as a global showcase for the museum, making it accessible to specialists in antiquities and history, as well as visitors to the holy shrine.
