Karbala: An arrest warrant has been issued for five engineers and a traffic officer in connection with the collapse of the Al-Hussainiya overpass in Karbala. The warrants were confirmed by Mahfouz Al-Tamimi, the Deputy Chairman of the Karbala Provincial Council, and were issued by the Karbala Court of Appeal.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the warrants target three engineers from the supervising authority and two engineers from the company responsible for the Karbala Bridge project, including the project’s manager. Additionally, the traffic officer responsible for the site has also been named in the warrant. These actions are being taken under Article 340 of the Penal Code.
The individuals named in the warrants have been detained pending an investigation. This investigation is being conducted by a Supreme Committee formed by order of the Prime Minister, which aims to determine the causes of the bridge collapse and identify those responsible for the incident.
