Baghdad: The Iraqi Artists Syndicate mourned, on Friday, the artist and director Abbas Al-Harbi, who passed away while living abroad in Australia. In a statement, the Syndicate expressed their deepest condolences to the family, loved ones, and colleagues of the deceased, asking Almighty God to have mercy on him and grant him a place in His spacious gardens.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the deceased was considered one of the pioneers who influenced the artistic movement in Iraq. Al-Harbi began his career as a distinguished actor in numerous plays and series and also practiced theater directing, directing more than ten plays.

Among his most notable works, which remain etched in the public's memory, are his roles as an actor in the series "Threads from the Past" (1993) and "The Most Delicious Tables in the City of Rules" (1999), in addition to the film "The White Glove" (1997).

The late artist was also known for his prolific artistic output, having written numerous dramatic works. His series "Al-Hawasem" (2004) and "When Do We Sleep?" (2011) garnered the attention of critics and viewers alike, showcasing his diverse talent in the field of dramatic arts.
