Former Naft Al-Basra Player Basil Saad Dies in Drowning Accident in Turkey

Istanbul: The management of Naft Al-Basra Club mourned the death of its former player, Basil Saad, on Friday, following a drowning accident at sea between Turkey and Greece. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the club stated in a statement, "With hearts that believe in God's will and destiny, Naft Al-Basra Sports Club and all its members extend their sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of our former player Basil Saad, who passed away in an unfortunate drowning accident in Turkey. We have lost a well-mannered and beloved young man who served our club faithfully, and his name and memory will remain present in all our hearts." Basil Saad played for Naft Al-Basra, Al-Bahri, Samarra, and Al-Kahraba clubs. He played as a midfielder and was originally from the city of Al-Zubair. He disappeared more than nine months ago. His death occurred after the smuggler dropped him off with a group of migrants 50 meters from the Greek island of Symi, without wearing a life jacket, which led to his drowning in the sea.
