Baghdad: President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with Russia during a meeting at the Baghdad Palace with the Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, and his delegation. The meeting, attended by National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji, focused on enhancing relations between Iraq and Russia to achieve mutual progress and prosperity.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the presidency’s statement highlighted discussions on Iraq’s rejection of Zionist attacks on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and other regional countries. President Rashid conveyed his greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin and stressed the necessity of strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in security and military fields. He discussed the exchange of expertise and intelligence information to combat terrorism and foster stability and security in both nations and the region.
The President also underscored the importance of forming an international stance to confront violations against civilians and securing the Palestinian people’s rights to establish an independent state. He expressed appreciation for Russia’s support of the Palestinian cause.
Sergei Shoigu, on behalf of Russia, reiterated the desire to develop relations with Iraq in ways that benefit both countries and their populations.
