Salah al-din: The Salah al-Din Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Tuesday the discovery of a number of mortar shells during a sweep and clearing operation in the Makhoul Mountains north of the governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the command stated that detachments of the Salah al-Din Battalion, affiliated with the Explosives Directorate, carried out a field operation with the support of a security force, which resulted in the discovery of 26 mortar shells measuring 120 mm.

The statement added that engineering teams dealt with the seized projectiles in the field according to approved technical procedures, to prevent any potential security risks.

The statement indicated that the PMF units continue to carry out clearing and search operations from time to time in the rugged mountainous areas of Salah al-Din Governorate, to pursue ISIS remnants and prevent their return.
