Baghdad: The National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Aaraji, reiterated Iraq’s clear and steadfast position against the use of its territory, including land and airspace, for launching attacks on neighboring countries. This declaration underscores the Iraqi government’s dedication to upholding the nation’s sovereignty and reinforcing regional security.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Aaraji hosted a meeting with Majid Mir Ahmadi, the Head of Military Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with his delegation, on Tuesday. The discussions centered on regional security challenges and mutual concerns. Both parties reviewed the steps taken to bolster security and stability as part of the good-neighborly relations and the security agreement between Baghdad and Tehran.
The statement from Al-Aaraji’s media office also highlighted that Iraq has lodged an official complaint with the UN Security Council against Israel for using Iraqi airspace to conduct an attack on Iran. The Iraqi government, led by Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, is committed to implementing all necessary measures to prevent such violations from happening again.
