Doha: Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin has traveled to Doha to engage in discussions concerning US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the ongoing Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip. The visit underscores Turkey’s involvement in the diplomatic efforts to mediate a resolution to the conflict.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kalin’s agenda includes talks with key stakeholders involved in the Trump plan, which forms part of broader negotiations between Hamas and Israel. These negotiations are being facilitated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, highlighting the collaborative diplomatic approach to resolving the conflict.
Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesman Majed Al-Ansari confirmed that a meeting of mediators is scheduled with the Hamas negotiating delegation in Doha to deliberate on Trump’s plan. Al-Ansari noted that recent discussions in New York between Arab and Islamic leaders and President Trump have widened the scope of participation in the initiative, thus explaining the involvement of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey in the ongoing discussions in Doha.
President Trump’s 20-point plan, which was outlined in a recent press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, includes significant measures such as the release of Israeli prisoners within 72 hours, the disarmament of Hamas, and a ceasefire. The plan seeks to address the immediate cessation of hostilities and outlines steps towards long-term peace.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military continues its operations in key areas of Gaza City, including bombing and destroying infrastructure, as part of its strategy to occupy the city and displace its Palestinian residents. The situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts aim to bring about an end to the conflict.
