Ankara: The Turkish National Security Council has expressed its readiness to contribute to efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in the Gaza Strip. This announcement came at the conclusion of a meeting chaired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council released a statement highlighting that “Israel’s policies in Gaza have led to a humanitarian catastrophe,” emphasizing the shared responsibility of the international community to hold those accountable. The statement calls for urgent action from global public opinion against Israeli attacks and urges the embodiment of the United Nations’ resolutions in this regard.
Additionally, the Council underscored its commitment to preventing any manifestations of terrorism in neighboring regions and reaffirmed its stance against the expansion of terrorism. The meeting evaluated progress towards a “terrorism-free Turkey,” reiterating the nation’s determination to dismantle the barriers that hinder peace, prosperity, and security.
The statement also addressed threats to Syria’s territorial integrity and Iraq’s stability, affirming Turkey’s support against regional conflicts. The discussion extended to the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, where concerns were raised about the potential escalation of the conflict. The Council expressed Turkey’s willingness to take on a greater role in fostering peace in the region.
