Ankara: The Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department has affirmed that Israel will not be able to hide its crimes by targeting journalists in Gaza. Burhaneddin Duran, the Head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, underscored that the Israeli administration must understand that its systematic attacks against journalists will not stop the truth from being revealed or conceal its crimes against humanity and genocide in the region.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Duran expressed his condolences in a message posted on the Turkish platform “In Social” for the martyrdom of journalist Yahya Barzak, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip. Duran emphasized that Independent journalist Yahya Barzak, who was reporting the genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza for the Turkish channel TRT, was martyred in the airstrike by what he called the “perpetrators of genocide.”
Duran further highlighted that Yahya Barzak, whose story was documented in the TRT World documentary “Ga
za Remains in My Pictures,” is remembered as a courageous voice seeking the truth amidst occupation and injustice. He stated that the “brutal entity” of Israel is continually committing new war crimes, which will not only be held accountable by humanity’s conscience but also under international law.
Duran reiterated that the Israeli administration’s attempts to obstruct journalists will fail to prevent the publication of the truth or hide its crimes against humanity and genocide. The airstrike that claimed Barzak’s life also resulted in the deaths of five other Palestinians near the “Al-Bi’a Street” intersection west of Deir al-Balah.
