Al-Hakim Discusses Political Developments with Australian Ambassador, And Calls for Broad Participation in Elections


Baghdad: The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, met with Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Gillian Miles, to discuss political developments in Iraq and the wider region, the country’s stability and progress, as well as bilateral relations between Baghdad and Canberra.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim stressed that Iraq is currently experiencing security, political, and social stability as it prepares for the upcoming electoral milestone. He emphasized that regular elections and the peaceful transfer of power are key pillars of Iraq’s democratic system.



Al-Hakim urged for broad, active, and conscious participation in the forthcoming elections, reaffirming Iraq’s openness to its regional and international environment in a way that serves national interests and safeguards sovereignty.



He also called for a stronger presence of Australian companies in Iraq and greater cooperation in the fields of agriculture and water management.
