National Intelligence Council’s Fifth Session Addresses Key Security Concerns


Baghdad: The National Intelligence Council held its fifth session of 2025 today, chaired by National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji, with the attendance of Council members.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council discussed the topics on its agenda and made the necessary decisions and recommendations. The Council also tackled the issue of financial breaches targeting electronic payment cards, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures in the financial sector.



The meeting delved into an intelligence assessment of the financial capabilities of the terrorist organization ISIS, emphasizing the importance of understanding and countering the organization’s resources. Additionally, an intelligence study on the reality of drug smuggling was discussed, along with Iraq’s cooperation with friendly and brotherly countries to combat drug-related issues. The Council commended the significant efforts of the security and intelligence services in safeguarding the country and its society.
