Qubad Talabani Calls for Constitution-Based Relationship with Baghdad


Erbil: Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Government, Qubad Talabani, emphasized the necessity for the relationship with Baghdad to adhere to the constitution, asserting that “Baghdad represents the strategic depth of the region.”



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Talabani made these remarks during a dialogue session on the second day of the Middle East Forum in Erbil. He stated that the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad should be institutional and devoid of capriciousness, highlighting the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s belief in Baghdad’s strategic importance to the region.



Talabani further pointed out the need for Iraq to focus more on the agricultural and industrial sectors to bolster the national economy. He also urged for a reorganization of the powers and authorities of the governorates, aligning them with the constitution and promoting administrative decentralization.
