Tehran: Iranian authorities have announced the dismantling of a Mossad spy network that was orchestrated by an individual using a virtual identity on the X platform. The network was reportedly run by a person under the alias “James B. Dean.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the individual confessed to creating a fake account on the X platform, using it to post content hostile to the Iranian regime. The aim was to attract dissidents and anti-regime individuals. During the fall of 2022, this person incited protests, which later evolved into a campaign named “Sad Mahalla” that sought to organize demonstrations and acts of sabotage.

The network eventually connected with a transnational group, including elements loyal to the former monarchy and associates of Reza Pahlavi. A woman named “Elahe,” based in Sydney, Australia, allegedly directed the individual to contact a Mossad operative through the “Avin…” account. This led to the gathering and transmission of sensitive security and military site information within Iran to Israeli contacts.

Iranian sources revealed that the individual was tasked with identifying locations of special units and defense facilities, with electronic information transfers occurring alongside increased Israeli attacks on Iranian territory in 2025. Some of this information was later published online.

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry, after extensive surveillance, identified and arrested the network’s mastermind and several participants, leading to the network’s official dismantling. Investigations and trials of those involved have commenced.

In a subsequent television confession, James Baden expressed regret for his support of Israel, acknowledging the significant harm and casualties caused by his activities.
