Iraqi University Students Gain Free Access to Advanced AI Tools


Baghdad: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced a groundbreaking strategic agreement with Google to provide Iraqi university students with free access to the Gemini Pro artificial intelligence tool for a full year. This initiative aims to enhance academic excellence and equip students with essential future skills.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the agreement includes access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, which is capable of understanding complex requests, and the Veo 3 model, designed for generating video clips. Moreover, the AI tool will be integrated into widely used Google applications such as Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet, offering students expanded functionalities. This integration will also provide students with the benefits of the NotebookLM tool and audio summaries services, alongside 2 terabytes of cloud storage space.

The Ministry emphasized that the Gemini Pro version, which is typically available for $240, will be offered free of charge to students from both
public and private universities starting today, Thursday. This initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging technology to support the educational and professional development of its students.
