Turkish Parliament Condemns Israel for Detention of Citizens, Including Three MPs

Ankara: The Turkish Parliament has issued a stern warning to Israel concerning the treatment of detained Turkish citizens, including three Members of Parliament, demanding their immediate release and repatriation following Israel’s assault on the Freedom Fleet in international waters.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Parliament declared that the attack on the Ship of Conscience, which was carrying 21 Turkish citizens including three MPs, is viewed as a direct affront to the Turkish Parliament. The statement reaffirmed unwavering support for the detainees and all individuals participating in efforts to deliver aid to the people of Gaza.

The Turkish Parliament highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, which remains under a prolonged blockade, describing the circumstances as a genocide perpetrated by the administration of Benjamin Netanyahu. It emphasized that the Global Steadfastness Fleet, consisting of over 50 ships and activists from 44 countries, embodies a humanitarian effort to break the blockade and provide essential aid.

The Parliament accused Israel of perpetrating a ‘new crime’ against international law by attacking the humanitarian fleet. It urged global parliaments and international bodies to unite in holding Israel accountable for alleged war crimes and to work toward ending the occupation.

Furthermore, the statement underscored that the actions of the Israeli forces, including the assault on activists and Turkish MPs, will not remain unchallenged and will be pursued in international judicial forums.
