Al-Sudani and Putin Agree to Postpone Russian-Arab Summit Amidst Political Activity


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to delay the Russian-Arab summit to an unspecified future date due to ongoing international and regional political developments concerning Gaza. The decision was disclosed following a phone conversation between Al-Sudani and Putin.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement confirming the postponement decision. The summit, initially set for October 15, was deferred in response to the current political activities focused on halting the aggression in Gaza. Both leaders assured that they would inform Arab capitals about the summit’s postponement using diplomatic channels.

During the call, Prime Minister Al-Sudani reiterated Iraq’s commitment to supporting stability efforts in the region and emphasized the importance of strategic communication between Arab nations and the Russian Federation. He highlighted the need for cooperation to tackle regional and global cha
llenges.

Al-Sudani also expressed that Iraq aims for the Arab-Russian summit to serve as a platform for enhancing international partnerships. He underscored its potential role in advancing the development processes of Arab countries and supporting integration across various sectors such as economy, energy, and investment.
