Basra: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi emphasized the necessity of granting Basra the attention it merits, given its strategic position and crucial role. He highlighted that Iraq’s growth and prosperity are intrinsically linked to improvements in the province’s condition.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mandalawi’s media office announced that he conducted a field visit to Basra, where Governor Asaad Al-Eidani welcomed him. During the visit, they engaged in discussions regarding service, development, and security issues, while also reviewing several key files pertinent to the province.

Al-Mandalawi pointed out Basra’s role as “Iraq’s maritime gateway to the world and its economic lung,” stressing that the country’s development and progress hinge on advancements in this province, which serves as a cornerstone of the national economy and a center for production and innovation.

He further emphasized the need to provide Basra with exceptional support and attention in line with its vital role, advocating for strengthened cooperation between federal and local governments to tackle challenges, particularly those concerning water resources.
