Baghdad: The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced the dismantling of Baathist cells in 14 governorates linked to foreign entities, leading to the arrest of 135 suspects.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the INSS stated in a statement that this operation is part of its national responsibilities and proactive efforts to protect Iraq's security and stability. The service successfully delivered a decisive blow to the remnants of the banned Baath Party through precise operations over a span of three months, covering 14 governorates.

The INSS added that these efforts resulted in the dismantling of secret networks and the arrest of 135 suspects under judicial orders issued in accordance with the provisions of Article (8/First) of the Party Ban Law. Investigations revealed that these cells were linked to foreign entities attempting to restructure the collapsed organization and recruit young people under misleading headlines via social media platforms.

The statement pointed out that intelligence units monitored electronic activities aimed at spreading the defunct Baathist ideology and attempts to undermine national security. These activities included systematic misinformation and propaganda campaigns, which were addressed in accordance with the law.
