Kabul: Afghan authorities announced on Sunday that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 30 others wounded during violent nighttime clashes on the border between Afghan and Pakistani forces. Afghan government Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said during a press conference in Kabul that the clashes erupted between forces of the "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan" and the Pakistani army, resulting in the deaths and wounding of more than 20 Emirate fighters.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mujahid explained that the Afghan forces were able to seize "a large quantity of weapons" during the operation, noting that the nighttime operation was halted at the request of both Qatar and Saudi Arabia. His remarks came after violent clashes erupted along the Afghan-Pakistani border, along the Durand Line, following Kabul's accusation that Islamabad violated its airspace and launched airstrikes on Afghan territory.

The Afghan Ministry of Defense later announced the successful conclusion of "Operation Retaliation" against Pakistan. Tolo News reported that the clashes came amid escalating security tensions between Kabul and Islamabad over mutual accusations regarding the activity of armed groups in the border areas.
