Baghdad: The Ministry of Health announced the destruction of approximately 285 kilograms of drugs at the Forensic Medicine Department in Baghdad.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a detailed statement from the Ministry highlighted the destruction of narcotic and psychotropic substances, which included around 285 kilograms of narcotics and 1,536 tablets and capsules of psychotropic substances on October 16, 2025.
The destruction was supervised by a specialized committee led by Judge Yasser Al-Khuzai, a representative of the Supreme Judicial Council. The event was attended by Dr. Zaman Mahmoud Jassim, rapporteur of the Supreme National Authority for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, along with representatives from the Office of the National Advisor for Mental Health, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the General Authority of Customs, the General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, and the Border Forces Command.
Judge Al-Khuzai confirmed that the destruction process was carried out using dedicated incinerators that reached temperatures of 1,100 degrees Celsius. This method ensured the complete elimination of the substances, reducing them to ash without any remaining traces.
